About Our School

Welcome to Forest View Elementary

A MINNESOTA SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE

Welcome to Forest View Elementary School, a two-time winner of the Minnesota School of Excellence Award and the United States Department of Education Certificate of Merit! Located in the beautiful lakeside community of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Forest View is one of eight elementary schools in Independent District #831.

Forest View has a history of excellence in academics, student activities, and community involvement. The goal of the school is to teach students to "Be the Best They Can Be," and our students and staff follow four guiding principles as we pursue academic excellence --- Respect, Work, Belong, and Be Kind. In pursuing those goals our students have done well not only on state and national tests, but also in activities such as Future Problem Solving. For instance, in past years, our Future Problem Solving teams took first place in all divisions in the state competition, the first time in Minnesota history that one elementary school swept first place in all categories.

Our staff is committed to providing a positive learning environment, and we receive many compliments from our parents about the warm, caring atmosphere in our school. The staff at Forest View values each child, and we invite the public to join us in building a partnership of community, parents, and school in order to prepare tomorrow's citizens.

Forest View Song

Words and Music by Bruce A. Abbe

There are schools across our America made of brick or wood or stone.
Each one has a special identity but there's one that stands alone.
This one has a special quality, it's a place kids want to be.
You'll find this school in Forest Lake nestled back amongst the trees.

Chorus
Forest View, it is a place where I belong.
Everybody here will help each other along.
Forest View, it is a place kids want to be.
Everybody here can be the best they can be.

All the teachers, students, and parents too, make up the Forest View team.
We all work together as partners, cooperation is our theme.
No matter what life hands us out, we are by each other's side.
When people ask us where we're from, we will sing it out with pride.

(Chorus)

We know that we'll succeed if we try the best we can.
There's nothing we can't do if we all work hand in hand, hand in hand.

(Chorus)
